August 2015

August was filled with language goof ups, being taken to a beautiful restaurant with our tutor to help us prepare for Jeremy's mom and stepdad to come soon, Jeremy taking two trips to villages outside our city and staying overnight both times, Kaitlynn's first shot at pigtails (and maybe last), pretty bad seasonal (I think) allergies for William, going white sugar free for two weeks (we will continue again soon...I think lol), having a date with the hubby to a park that he planned as a surprise to let me walk on grass barefoot for the first time in 10 months, cultural goof ups galore but an especially memorable one which involved cheek kissing an older neighbor lady who wasn't intending to go for the "more for close friends" cultural norm here not once but TWICE lol. Let's just say the month had it's ups and downs, but in all, we are thankful to stand on the Rock regardless of how the day is going each and every day and we feel much more at home here these days.  Still missing friends and family but learning to make new friends and how to love them here as well.  It's a slow process but we are adjusting to this new life.  10 months in now and we at least know when we screw up in the language sometimes :) Ok, on to the photos:
Sometimes, when mom is busy with food prep or something mundane these guys help, and sometimes they go in the closet and find a couple of pair of boots lol

Thankful they have each other

Books are good for tons of stuff!

Met her at the fountain and they shared their toys...CUTIE

City life sometimes looks like this

Kaitlynn's special opportunity to pet a real live cat!! lol we washed her hands afterward, she is now asking for a purple kitty but we've told her we aren't sure we can make that happen.

On our date, We saw someone taking this sort of picture and just followed suit...it's a pine tree but apparently the president here really likes them or something
